BVI 2024
Family/Friends/British Virgin Islands/sailing/six weeks….

A great combination that does not get much better.
As some of you may know, we are co-owners of a charter sailboat, Breezin, that is located on the island of Tortola, British Virgin Islands. This year we extended our sailing time to six weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed making memories with family & friends, it was so much fun.

The British Virgin Islands, located next to the U.S. Virgin Islands or 130 miles east of Puerto Rico, is one of the premier sailing destinations of the world. There are four main islands; Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost (yost) Van Dyke. There are also about 50 smaller islands and cays. The numerous islands make for smooth sailing and the water is crystal clear, Caribbean blue.

July is a HUGE birthday month and we did our best to celebrate! For granddaughter, Gabi, we had a pirate themed party. We also had a White Party and numerous dance parties. It was a blast! We also snorkeled, did some fishing, enjoyed many beaches and beach bars, sailed to the sunken island, Anegada, and toured it in the back of a truck.

The main reason to go to Anegada is for its world class fresh lobster, which we devoured on the beach under the stars. A special treat was when the lobster pitman (cook) took the time to explain “everything about lobsters” to the kids; like how to tell a male from a female, let the kids hold lobsters, etc. Kindness is always appreciated.
Another special moment was  when Jost Van Dyke legend, Foxy, spent time with the grandkids. We visited Foxy’s restaurant exactly 20 years ago with "the kids" (see photo below) who are now the parents. Foxy was an old guy then but he has aged well.   Foxy is a character, entrepreneur, and entertainer extraordinaire.
In the evenings we enjoyed playing card games and viewing the stars since we do not have a television.

New guests aboard Breezin this year were David, Bailey, Brody and our niece, Kimberly, from California. They were all great crew additions!

Here are some photos that best showcase the amazing time we enjoyed!
